Nathan K. Milgrim was born in New York City in 1931 and grew up in Mount Vernon N.Y. He attended the Syracuse University with a major in business administration and art history and graduated in 1953. After college, he joined the family-owned Providence Import Co. in New York City as a salesman of Japanese rugs and eventually began designing rugs. He helped the company become the nation’s leading importer of area rugs. Over time, he began concentrating solely on design and formed his own firm, N.K. Milgrim Inc. in the early 1970’s.

There, he proceeded to successfully design rugs for mass market distribution worldwide.Married in 1965 to the late Dolores Reina, he now lives in Kingston and frequently travels the world visiting old friends. Between trips, he spends most days painting with watercolors and studies techniques with Betsy Jacaruso.

Cross River Fine Art is an aritst’s guild, representing eighteen watercolorists from varying walks of life who have joined together to display their diverse, yet unique painting styles. The artists live and work in the Hudson River Valley and many of their paintings, whether they be still-lifes, botanicals or landscapes, reflect the beauty and sensibility of the region.

Another defining element of the group is the connection with Betsy Jacaruso Studio and Gallery in Rhinebeck, NY. These artists study with Betsy on an ongoing basis, some for many years. This has formed a lasting and vital bond that is often expressed in their work.

Enjoy the contrasts and the similarities of each individual artist as they seek to create beauty in their art.
