Kevin Cook Emanations and the debut of the Huguenot Street Collection

May 18th through June 30th

Gray Owl Gallery at Water Street Market presents Kevin Cook’s paintings for his annual gallery show. This year is “Emanations and the debut of Huguenot Street Collection” with an opening Artist Reception this Saturday from 5p to 7p. This show includes offerings that transform Kevin’s well known signature palette into the sun’s warm light over the Hudson River, a cool shimmer from a moon over Montgomery Place and for the first time Kevin applies his unduplicated talent to the images of Huguenot Street, bringing to life a true winter day as you walk through the historic neighborhood, plus shaded sun drenched views of some of Huguenot Streets most iconic buildings.

Kevin Cook is a contemporary Hudson River School Painter who lives and paints in New Paltz. His rich personal familiarity with the Hudson Valley and the village New Paltz enable him to take the contemporary landscape and convert it to an image that will have you believing he painted it with the Hudson River School masters two centuries ago.

At Gray Owl Gallery we offer a fresh look at contemporary fine art. From original oil, watercolor and pastels paintings, to Sculptures, art cards, original prints and handcrafted wood collectibles Gray Owl has something for every one’s collection.

Gray Owl Gallery is at Water Street Market in New Paltz, open 7 days from 11a to 6p. All credit cards are welcome.

Once Upon A Polar Night

Nights are long in a Polar winter in Iceland, the land of fierce volcanoes & dancing northern lights; time for stories of the Norse gods and of the Vikings who settled there long ago; stories of the mischief of Queen Hild the elfin queen and the Trolls. Halldora knows all these stories and more. Some have even happened to her family. There’s the time Gryla and Leppa-Ludi almost caught Kristin – for that’s what Trolls do – steal your children if they can.

IHGallery, happy to be taking part in the high octane excitement generated by Bushwick Open Studios in June, presents ”WHAT I LIKE ABOUT YOU/NORTH” in conjunction with ”WHAT I LIKE ABOUT YOU” at Parallel Art Space, Brooklyn, NY. Twelve artists, flying into NYC from around the globe, will hang their work alongside a Bushwick artist whose work they admire. Sunday of Memorial Day weekend those same artists make the trip up to Saugerties to guerilla install an exhibit of their own work. Spontaneous, raw and exuberant, the investigative nature of the paintings in this show ask more questions than they answer. Organized by Brooklyn artist/curator Julie Torres.
