The Greater New Paltz/Gunks Art community organizes art openings, gallery receptions and art events on an ongoing basis in various locations around the town. With a rich history of independence going back over 330 years, New Paltz and its surrounding communities provide visitors with a wide variety of entertainment options: historic sites, eclectic art spaces, music venues, restaurants, shopping, local produce and wineries, as well as hiking, biking, climbing, and cross-country skiing, depending on the season. The State University of New York at New Paltz keeps the energy high in the community yearround.
