Over 400 artists in the Hudson River Valley readily welcome you into their private worlds as studios are open to the public from April through October 2013. These free, self-guided tours showcase the working studios and artwork created there. You will have the rare opportunity to visit studios that are rarely open to the public. Visitors will get an insider’s behind-the-scenes glimpse into an artists’ creative life. Many of the artists participating in these events show in galleries throughout the region and nationally. The Hudson Valley is where they live, work, and get their inspiration. Enjoy your travels throughout the beautiful countryside of New York’s Hudson River Valley!

 

 

Peekskill Open Studios

MEET THE ARTISTS, PERFORMERS & POETS

The Peekskill Arts Alliance (PAA) is proud to present this exciting annual arts event.  See visual and performing arts by more than 100 visual & performing artists in their studios, performance spaces and several other special exhibitions throughout the City of Peekskill, NY. Celebrate art all day and music & dinning the bustling cafes and restaurants at night.

See the creative process at work first hand with visits to over 40 artists’ private studios plus live performances.   Have an open dialogue with artists to discover what drives them.  Spend time perusing the special exhibits and professional gallery spaces where even more artwork is on display.

Open Studios – For self guided tours a map will be provided at the Jan Peek Gazebo on the corner of N. Division St. and Park St. outlining exactly where you can find each artist and their studio plus events.

Guided tours of artist’s district studios will leave from the Jan Peek Gazebo at the intersection of Park and Division Streets at 1 & 3:00 p.m. both days. Maps for tours will be provided at centralized locations and on our website.

Exhibits – Three exhibits of PAA members will be open for this event:

  • WCC Gallery – Juried show entitled, “It’s Not Always Black & White”
  • Peekskill Coffee House – Showing off PAA Members without studios in the downtown
  • Energy Movement Center – More art by local PAA artists in this amazing center.

 PerformanceThe Energy Movement Center (EMC) is the stepping-stone home for EMBARK|Peekskill literary & performing arts!  We are thrilled to have Daisy Jopling perform for us this year along with; theater, dance, comedy, music, poetry and much, much more! This event has a range of art will include traditional and contemporary, paintings, sculptures, video art, photography, installation pieces, ceramics, prints, drawings, silk paintings and performance arts. The Peekskill art scene is an evolving and vibrant community. New artists and performers are moving into the area every year.

Join us for the 11th Annual Saugerties Artists Studio Tour and discover more than 35 talented artists working in a variety of media such as painting, printmaking, collage, photography, ceramic art, fine furniture and sculpture.  At the Artists’ Reception on Friday evening meet the artists and preview their work on display in the Opus 40 Gallery.

For a visual treat take a casual stroll through the village of Saugerties  (Main and Partitions Streets) where the  Tour artists will be filling the windows of many local businesses with local art.

Studio Tour 11th Annual Show – July 13 – August 11 

Opening Reception July 13,  5 to 7 pm.
Hosted by the Saugerties Historical Society, The Kiersted House, 119 Main Street, Saugerties, NY.
This  exhibit challenges the Tour artists to create new work with a common thread.  This year’s theme is “Bridges” –  the point of convergence or separation spanning places, ideas, stories, emotions, people and time.  Artists of every discipline will participate in this show.

Art Lovers’ Weekend – Saturday, August 10

A collaboration with Saugerties Bed & Breakfast establishments: On Saturday evening, August 10, select lodges will host a Meet The Artist gathering, light refreshments will be served.  Please visit the tour’s website for complete details.  Make a weekend of it!  Enjoy the homey comfort of a B&B, visit artists’ studios and art exhibits,  relax at an informal get together where you can get to know a Tour artist.

Now in its successful 6th year, the annual Labor Day 2013 Art Studio Views Tour in the Rhinebeck area, is poised to welcome you back to the private working studios of some of the best artists in the Northern Dutchess County Region of the Hudson Valley. Many of the artists participating in this year’s event, show in galleries throughout the region and nationally.  The Hudson Valley and our area is where they live, work, and get their inspiration. Nourish your soul with the best our region has to offer.

Our free self- guided tour showcases the artists in their working studios and artwork being created there. Tour takers have a chance to get to know the artists in an informal atmosphere, and on personal level as they see where they work. Visitors will have the opportunity to visit studios that are rarely open to the public, view actual works in progress as well as recently completed pieces. Get an insider’s behind-the-scenes  glimpse into an artist’s creative life! Many artists will be demonstrating their craft too.

Join us for our 2nd annual free Open Studios Tour of Cold Spring and Garrison on Sept. 28 & 29, 2013! Discover a diversity of art in paintings, printmaking, collage, photography, ceramic art, papermaking, glass, wood and sculpture. At the Artists’ Reception on {TBA} preview the work on display to help plan out your weekend of self- guided studio tours. Enjoy the culture during the day and dine at night at one of our local
restaurants featuring art or a musical performance.

The public is invited to meet the artists, view their work, and learn about the artistic process and inspiration of some national and internationally renowned artists on the tour in a friendly, informal atmosphere. Become aware of the diversity, quality, and quantity of local art and events in the area and in the studio environment that might not be accessible otherwise. You may even want to start an art collection, or add to your existing one.

Plan a road trip for a day, or two weekends of studios, barns, garages and galleries along the backroads of Dutchess County. Learn about the artists’ creative process. Find out what inspires and fuels their creativity. Buy some art or just visit – the studio doors are open!

Visit over 30 artist studios and galleries starting as far south as Patterson and ranging as far north as Millerton and west to Hopewell Junction. A 50 mile swath of Route 22!

Beacon Open Studios

Beacon Open Studios is pleased to announce our 5th annual open studios, happening the weekend April 20-21, 2013. Please join us in the city-wide celebration of local talent. Studios will be open from noon-6pm both days.

This year’s event features over 70 artists throughout the city of Beacon. Painters, sculptors, photographers, jewelers, ceramicists, glass artists, multi-media and interdisciplinary artists and more will all be represented within the 4 square miles of Beacon NY. There will be something for every interest, don’t miss this chance for an inside peek at the workings of Beacon’s creative community.

Hudson Beach Glass at 162 Main Street in Beacon will serve as Beacon Open Studios Headquarters, a place where you can pick up a free color catalog with a map to all the studios. Get an overview of the artwork that’s out there by checking out the Kickoff Exhibition in their second floor gallery. The Kickoff Exhibition features a single work from every participating artist, which allows you to make choices of where your self-guided tour of artist’s studios will begin. The Kickoff Exhibition opens April 13th and runs through April 21st.

The Kickoff Party, 6-9pm Friday April 19th sets the weekend in motion. Artists and art lovers alike are invited to attend the Kickoff Party at Hudson Beach Glass. Everyone comes together for a celebratory start to the weekend. Snacks and beverages will be served.

A full color catalog and map to the studios will be available for free to guide you around town. The catalog has photos of every participating artists’ work as well as their websites listed. Many visitors to open studios hang on to the catalog after open studios weekend has as a reference to locate local artists in the future. The catalog can be found at the following locations:
